Welcome to the family
Nelson and Sons Farm is a third-generation Black-owned farm.
What began as 30 acres in 2016 has grown into more than 4,000 acres spread across 100+ miles of rich Louisiana Delta farmland.
“Land, when respected, gives back”
We practice regenerative agriculture that protects soil health and strengthens the long-term sustainability of our fields. Our approach allows us to care for the land—and ensures it continues to take care of us.
the legacy of black land ownership
Did you know Black farmers own less than 1% of operable U.S. farmland? Generations of Black farmers have faced discriminatory policies, limited access to capital, and systemic barriers that made land ownership difficult to obtain—and even harder to keep.
Our story reflects these struggles. From leaving family land in Mississippi to fighting to keep newly purchased acres in Louisiana, we put our heads together and worked tirelessly to build the farm we run today.
